Posted on October 4, 2024 by Crystal Wilson

Sauer Compressors USA opened its doors to students from the Caroline Career & Technology Center AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Program) on Manufacturing Day for a behind-the-scenes look at the world of industrial compressors. The tour, led by Josh Peter, Naval Business Development Manager,  provided students with a unique opportunity to learn about the production process, service operations, controls technology, and engineering principles that go into creating high-quality air compression solutions.

During the tour, students had the chance to explore the Sauer Compressors USA manufacturing facility, where they witnessed firsthand how compressors are assembled from start to finish. They learned about the various components that make up a compressor, including the motor, crankcase, cylinder head, and valves. Additionally, the students gained insights into the quality control measures implemented to ensure that each compressor meets the highest industry standards.

Beyond production, the tour also focused on the importance of service and maintenance in the life cycle of industrial compressors. Students learned about the essential role of service technicians in ensuring optimal performance and longevity. They also had the opportunity for hands-on training on a WP4351 compressor model.

The tour also delved into controls technology, which plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of industrial compressors. Students learned about the various control systems used in Sauer Compressors USA products and how they contribute to energy efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Finally, the tour explored the engineering aspect of compressor design and development. Students gained a better understanding of the engineering principles involved in creating innovative and efficient compressor solutions. They also had the chance to interact with Sauer Compressors USA engineers and learn about their career paths.

The Manufacturing Day tour at Sauer Compressors USA provided the CCTC AMP students with a valuable opportunity to learn about the manufacturing industry and its exciting career possibilities. By experiencing firsthand the production process, service operations, controls technology, and engineering principles, the students developed a deeper appreciation for the complex and fascinating world of industrial compressors.
